Gustava Bennett-Burrus July 30, 1905 - Dec. 30, 2006 Resident of Richmond Gustava Bennett-Burrus dropped out of school in the 4th grade to help pick cotton on her family's Oklahoma sharecropping farm. She educated all of her children, all of whom have earned degrees, and then went back to school to receive her much sought-after High School Diploma from Richmond High School in June 2003 at the age of 97. Mrs. Burrus passed away in her Richmond, CA, home on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at the age of 101. Quiet Hour and Time of Reflection: Friday, January 5, 2007, 7-8 p.m., Fuller Funeral Home, 3100 Cutting Blvd., Richmond, CA. All expressions of love and words of encouragement and condolence will be done on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Fuller Funeral Home during the Quiet Hour and Time of Reflection. Homegoing Service, Saturday, January 6, 2007, 11 a.m., North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church, 1427 Filbert St., Richmond, CA. She leaves to cherish her legacy, six children, Rev. Anthony Burrus (wife Lula) of Waco, TX, Eular Burrus-Turner of Oakland, Dr. Betty Burrus-Wright of Richmond, Erselener Burrus'Gore (husband Rodney) of Richmond, Gwendolyn Burrus-Richardson of Rio Vista, and Belinda Burrus King-Blount (husband Charles) of Hercules; countless grand, great-grand and great-great-grand-children; extended family and friends.
