Norma Schmidt died May 2, 2013 at Enloe Hospital in Chico. She had been residing at Westhaven Assisted Living in Orland. Norma was surrounded by family and friends as she passed. She was content to leave this world and join her son and other loved ones and friends who had passed before her. Norma was born in Kansas in 1931, grew up near Burley, Idaho and lived most of her life in the Bay Area. She worked over 30 years for Wann's Catering in Palo Alto before retiring to Chico.
She is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Jr. McCarty of Paul, Idaho, Jim McCarty of Twin Falls, Idaho, Bonnie Jones of Stockton, Calif., Darla Williams of Burley, Idaho, and Ginger Ann Higens of Rathdrum, Idaho. Norma has three children, Robert V. Staley Jr. (deceased), Richard D. Staley of Chico and Diana Dewey of Kentfield, California.; 5 grandchildren, Holly Padilla, Robert Staley, Jesseca Higashi, Amber Blood and Heath Dewey; 10 great grandchildren, Alex, Johnny, baby girl due in July, Jayda, Jordyn, Josh, Nick, Lucas, Jameson and Dylan . Norma was married three times to Robert V. Staley, Sr., Sylvester Burghardt and Howard Schmidt, all deceased. A funeral will be held the end of June in Burley, Idaho. Norma is missed and will always hold a precious place in the hearts of her children and loved ones.
