Billy Charles Shannon passed away on Jan. 10, 2013. He was born in Farmersville, Texas on Dec. 10, 1949. He attended grammar and grade school in Texas and New Mexico, moving to Orland in his junior year of high school. He graduated from Orland High School in 1967. After graduation he served three years in the Army with two tours in Viet Nam.

He worked in construction and belonged to the operators union for many years. The last 10 years he worked his dream job as a ranch hand on the Rancho Guejito in southern California, also traveling to Montana to work on a ranch as well. Big sky county was his dream place. He loved riding his horse with his dog Peppe leading the way.
He is survived by 6 brothers and sisters living in Texas and Florida; son, Todd Shannon of Boulder, Colo.; daughter, Astra Shannon of Chico, Calif.; son, Justin Shannon of Orland, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
The will be a celebration of life with family and friends on Feb. 16, 2013 at 12:30 at the Ficher barn.
