Jerry L. Deshong
ZANESVILLE: Jerry L. Deshong, 62, lost his fight with cancer, October 1, 2012. He was born July 20, 1950 in Coshocton, Ohio, the son of the late Virgil G. and Mary Ann (Hilton) Deshong.
Jerry graduated in 1968 from Tri-Valley High School and MTA Truck Driving School and drove for Mattingly Foods before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army for two years as a marksman and met and married his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Grandstaff on July 7, 1972. He was a hard worker all of his life, working at Landmark Feed and Cameron Brothers and was also a member of the American Legion.
He leaves to mourn his passing, in addition to his wife, his son Gregory Deshong and two daughters, Stephanie Deshong and Melissa (Michael) Malone; three grandchildren, Madison, McKenzie and Michael Jr. 'Bubby' all of Zanesville; special dad, Rollen (Norma) Vansickle of Nashport; brothers, Glenn Andrew Deshong Sr., of Worthington, Virgil Glenn (Georgia) Deshong of Tampa, Fl., Ronald G. (Carol) Deshong of Forth Worth, Tx.; sisters, Margie Lavender of Danvers, Mass. and Bonnie (Bob) Nelson of Coshocton.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, sisters, Beverly and Nina and his brother, Ralph.
You may call on the family, Friday, October 5, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 12 p.m. at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle Street, Zanesville with Minister, Jim Peters officiating. Final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at burrellfuneralservices.com. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.

Jerry was what a I call " A good man" I worked with him at MFI. He was a person I respected and knew I could get an honest answer from. He was kind and helped others. My condolences to the family
