Hiltner, Pearl  
Pearl M. Hiltner COSHOCTON: Pearl Mary (Nichol) Hiltner passed away peacefully at Autumn Extended Care on December 15, 2014. She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on November 9, 1918 to John Barnard and Eva Cecilia Ashley Nichol. Pearl lived in Manchester, New Hampshire, and worked at Grenier Field where she was a secretary to Col. William Lambert of Ironton. She married Edward C. Hiltner on June 12, 1943 in Rolla, Missouri. Following her husband's discharge from active duty in the Air Force, they moved to Coshocton. There, Pearl worked at Shaw Barton as Private Secretary to Stan Shaw, and was the Assistant Editor and Chief Proofreader in the art department. She collaborated with noted artists and authors on compilations of books published by the company. Pearl retired in 1984. An artistic woman, Pearl painted with oils and created needlework designs for her children. She was an avid reader and bibliophile who wrote poetry, with many of her writings included in the Shaw Barton publications. She especially enjoyed playing a role in a Little Theater production. She is survived by her husband, Edward; daughters, Fay Crater of Coshocton, Patricia (Merrill) Hull of Fairfield, and Melanie (John) Thompson of Durham, North Carolina; a son, Edward Hiltner, Jr. (Juanita) of Flagstaff, Arizona; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Nichol of Concord, New Hampshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, John Crater. Pearl is celebrated by her family as a devoted and loving wife and mother. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. on MONDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton, with Father Victor Wesolowski officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw. Christopher R. "Chris" Matthews COSHOCTON: Christopher R. "Chris" Matthews, 28, of Coshocton passed away on Sunday December 21, 2014. Chris was born in Coshocton on March 9, 1986. He attended Coshocton High School, was an avid reader and cherished spending time with his children. Chris was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and Union Millwright Local #1090. He is survived by his parents, Rollin and Megan Matthews of Coshocton; his children Caden Lee, Brailee M. and Christopher R. Matthews; a sister Tia (Brian) Bookless of Coshocton; brother Craig E. (Tia Moore) Matthews of Mt. Vernon; grandmothers Jean (Logan) Burris Jr. of Coshocton and Charlotte A. Love of Coshocton; several nieces and nephews. Chris is preceded in death by his grandfather Clarence L. Matthews. TOGETHER AGAIN Alberta Rogers COSHOCTON: Alberta Rogers, age 83, of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born on August 5, 1931, in Newcomerstown, to the late Walter Jeroid and Mary Jane (Peyton) Russell. She graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1949, and attended Cosmetology School. On February 8, 1953, she married Victor Rogers who preceded her in death on July 9, 2010. Alberta was a member of the Coshocton Alliance Church; enjoyed traveling with her husband to watch area bands, shopping, going to the Coshocton Gun Club, but most of all, spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Rogers Newman of Coshocton; five grandchildren, William Robert (Shana Lanier) Varner of Denton, NC, Sarah Victoria Varner of Fresno, Nathan Christopher Newman of Columbus, Josh (Heather Fuller) Newman of Coshocton, and Hannah Faith (Luis) Newman-Juarbe of Coshocton; eight grandchildren, William, Nick, Hunter, Haley, Alyssa, Drake, Jake, and Claire; nephew, Bruce W. Barrick of West Lafayette; brother and sister-in-law, Luther and Phyllis House; cousin, Jim Rogers; family friends, Shari Valentine and Doug Varner; several foster children over the years; and two dogs, Maggie Mae and Millie Mae. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at 11:00 am at Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bilsza officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Erman, Kenneth Wayne  
Kenneth Wayne Erman COSHOCTON: Kenneth Wayne Erman, 77, of Coshocton passed on to eternal life Sunday December 21, 2014. He was born in Coshocton on September 14, 1937 to the late Kenneth A. and Charlene (Bucklew) Erman. Wayne graduated from Coshocton High School in 1955 then went on to serve in the United States Navy. After the Navy he was a small engine teacher at Coshocton High School, was the owner of Kenney's Engine Service and retired from the Maintenance Department at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Barber Shop Quartet. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, woodworking, spending time with his family, and living every day to the fullest. Wayne is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Chapman) Erman whom he married January 8, 1960; children Karen (Mark) Andrews and Todd (Cynthia) Erman; grandchildren Shawnna (Justin Hinkle) Erman and Raichelle Erman; step-grandchildren Ryan and Kyle Andrews; great-grandchild Railynn Hinkle; step-great-grandchild Blaine Hinkle; sister Mary Bache. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home 639 Main St., Coshocton Friday December 26, 2014 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. King, Barbara  
Barbara Jane King DRESDEN: Barbara Jane King, 89, formerly of Dresden, Ohio died Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 at Coshocton Memorial Hospital. Born June 28, 1925 in Morgan County, Ohio she was a daughter of the late Revery and Mary (Henry) Aber Jones. Mrs. King was Methodist by faith and had attended Prospect Methodist Church. She loved her family, traveling, dancing and her pets, "Cuddles", "Sweetie", "Bootsie" and "Tuffy". Surviving is a daughter, Mary Jane Brewer of Coshocton; one granddaughter, Annette (Jimmy) West of Coshocton and two grandchildren, Marissa West and Michael West; also surviving is a special sister in-law, Violet Jones of Marion, Ohio; her special friends, Freida Hilgartner and Ruth Ann Durben and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wayne King whom she married December 2, 1950 and who died November 2, 1976; a son in-law, Dale Brewer; three sisters, Georgina Cramblit, Ruth Cory and Dorothy Mahon and three brothers, Joe Aber, Jr., Durwood Jones and Ralph Dana Jones. Calling hours will be from 11am to 1pm Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Inboden officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery at a later date. Randall Lee Leasure POOLER, GA: Randall Lee Leasure, age 60 passed away December 17, 2014 after an extended illness. He was born in Coshocton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his father, J. Leland Leasure and his wife, Cheryl Ann Leasure. He is survived by his son, Blake Thomas Leasure (Christina) of Spring Valley, CA; daughter, Jessica Casie Leasure of Alpine, CA; grandchildren, Brandon Lee Leasure and Madison Sherri Leasure of Spring Valley, CA; mother, June E. McPherson, Hilda Grace  
Hilda Grace McPherson COSHOCTON : Hilda Grace McPherson, age 102, of Coshocton, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014. She was born on July 3, 1912, in Newark, Ohio, to the late Dr. Otis and Lillian (Leonheiser) Morse. Hilda Grace was a teacher in Coshocton County and retired from Coshocton High School. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling. Hilda Grace is survived by two nieces, Elizabeth Fleming of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Patricia M. Arceneaux of Vallejo, California; one nephew Dan Morse of Cashiers, North Carolina; and special friend and caregiver, Mary Bache of Coshocton. Along with her parents, Hilda Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Dean McPherson who was killed in action during WWII. There will be no calling hours observed. Mildred L. Burris COSHOCTON: Mildred L. Burris, 77, a resident of Autumn Healthcare, died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the nursing home. She was born June 6, 1937 in Charleston, WV to the late Charles and Areda (Estep) Sampson. She married Clarence Burris on May 7, 1979, who preceded her in death on October 22, 2007. She was a member of Blissfield United Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Areda, a son, Harvey; five step-children; five grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Blissfield Cemetery with Pastor Ron Davis officiating. Courtright, Lois  
"Together Again" Lois P. Courtright CONESVILLE: Lois P. Courtright, age 76, of Conesville, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014. She was born on September 12, 1938, in Coshocton to the late Sumner and Mary (Johnson) Slaughter. Lois was a graduate of Conesville High School and on May 31, 1957, she married Billie Courtright who preceded her in death on March 22, 2010. Together, she and Billie owned and operated many businesses in Coshocton. Lois enjoyed painting, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by two brothers, Donald (Ruth) Slaughter of West Lafayette and Wayne (Beth) Slaughter of Warsaw; two sisters, Mary (Ed) Tober of Oregon and Reva (Willie) McGuire of Terre Haute, Indiana; many nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kamdyn Smith. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Sandra Courtright, and seven brothers, Floyd, Earl, Joe, Ralph, George, Richard, and Robert Slaughter. Funeral services for Lois will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
