Anne Marie Abbott

NEWCOMERSTOWN: Anne Marie Abbott, age 95, of Newcomerstown, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown. She was born on May 18, 1915, in Newcomerstown, to the late Wendell and Rosalie Yanai.

Anne attended Newcomerstown High School and the Coshocton Business College. On June 8, 1938 she married Jack Charles William Abbott, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1994. Anne was a Catholic by faith and attended St Frances DeSales Church in Newcomerstown and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton. Anne retired from the Coshocton Bowling Center after 36 years of service, she was responsible for the Women's State Bowling Tournament in Coshocton in 1966, and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her bowling team. She was a Girl Scout Leader with Troop 11, and worked with the YWCA for 25 years.

Anne is survived by her sister, Rose Tomasina of Dennison, Ohio; special niece and caregiver, Joann Clarke of Newcomerstown; and several other nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wendell J. Yanai Jr., Andrew Yanai, Henry J. "Sharkey" Yanai, Chris Yanai, and Elmer Yanai; sisters, Irene Williams and Helen Basiletti.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, with Pastor Dale Thomas officiating. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
