WEST LAFAYETTE: Kathleen Adona (Hartsough) Gatewood went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2012. Born in Hamden, Ohio, on October 7, 1947, to Luther and Anna Kathleen (Jolly) Hartsough.

Kathy grew up in Hamden and West LaFayette. After graduating from Ridgewood High School, Kathy went on to Ohio University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. After college she married and moved to Germany where she gave birth to the two loves of her life, Geoffrey and Michael.

Kathy began changing the lives of students when she began her career teaching at the Department of Defense schools in Germany. After 10 years in Germany she returned to West LaFayette and taught at Ridgewood High School then later at New Lexington schools where she retired in 2008. Kathy loved to sing and dance but gained the most enjoyment from watching her students perform. She inspired and instilled a passion in music in so many of the young people she taught.

Although her children and her students brought her incredible joy she was never more happy than when she was spending time with her grandsons.

Kathy is survived by her sons Geoffrey (Christy) Gatewood of Seattle, WA, Micheal (Kristin) Gatewood of Manhattan, KS; grandsons Isaac and Nathan Gatewood of Seattle, WA; sisters, Mary (Donald) Ousley of Nashport, Lita (Richard) Hampton of Zanesville, and Marsha (John) Durish of Wintersville; and many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther Adonis and Anna Kathleen Gatewood.

Calling hours will be noon - 2 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE, OH 43701.
