FRAZEYSBURG: Edwin C. Chaney, 83 of Frazeysburg, died Monday evening, July 22, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Zanesville.
Ed was born May 28, 1930 in Coshocton County to the late Emmett and Lizzie (Rine) Chaney.
He operated a magneto repair business from his home for many years and was an oil field worker. He had also worked for Fallsburg Supply, Buckeye Supply and the Licking County Highway Department. Ed was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and a member of Wakatomika Lodge #108 F&AM where he was a Past Master. He was also an member of Coshocton Council #110, Utica Shrine, Aladdin Temple and Scottish Rite in Columbus, Teheran Grotto in Newark, UCT Council #274, Coshocton Moose Lodge #935, Old Timers Licking County Athletic League and Law Enforcement Alliance of America. He supported the Ohio Troopers Coalition and Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by his special sweetie, Mattie Selders of Frazeysburg; his children, Ken Chaney, Kirk (Kathy) Chaney and Kathy (Denny) Stewart, all of Frazeysburg and Keith (Kristy) Chaney of Newark; Nancy (Rick) Conkle, Don (Becky) Selders, Chuck (Audrey) Selders all of Coshocton; a brother, Joseph (Gertrude) Chaney of Dresden; six grandchildren, Kris Chaney, Rob (Kelly) Chaney, Dawn (Jarrod) McClain, Ryan (Mindy) Harris, Kenny (Natalie) Chaney, Beth (Jason) Braddock; fourteen great grandchildren, Raegan and Kate Donchess, Cameron and Tyson Poulton, Reese and Justis McClain, Kolton and Karter Chaney, Kyler and Ellie Chaney, Annaleigh and Jonathan Braddock, Kerstin and Evan Harris and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ila (Moran) Chaney, whom he married May 8, 1948 and who died October 24, 2001; and four sisters, Mary McCoy, Helen Pigman, Eleanor Miller and Edith Marie Chaney.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME, 110 West Third Street. Masonic services will be held Thursday evening at 6:30pm.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, July 26, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Karl Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Frazeysburg Cemetery.
