Harold Dobbs

COSHOCTON: Harold Dobbs, 92, of Coshocton passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Oak Pointe Care Center in Baltic, Ohio following a struggle with cancer.

Born October 13, 1920 in Glen Easton, WV, he was the son of the late Alma H. and Blanche Mae (Chapman) Dobbs.

He served as a Private in the U. S. Army during World Was II from March 27, 1943 to September 15, 1945 with overseas duty in the Philippines and the Solomon Islands where he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars.

Harold worked on the Santa Fay Union Pacific Railroad as track personnel. He has also been employed with Babcock Wilcox as a certified welder and crane operator. Harold was a member in good standing with the V.F.W. Post 6764 in Westfield, New York.

Harold had many fascinating experiences to tell of his life and travels throughout the United States and Pacific islands. He was a great gardener and loved flowers. Harold was from a large traditional family with six brothers and three sisters. Their living status is unknown.

Known survivors are a son Elwood (JoAnn) Dobbs of Beloit, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his adopted family members Janie A. (Bill Wright) Keaton and Debbie E. Brickey of Coshocton and their families.

In addition to his parents and son Edward "Eddie" Dobbs, his brothers and sisters, Harold was preceded in death by his special companion of twenty years Faye Janie Kaiser.

Inurnment with military honors will take place in the Columbarium at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
