CONESVILLE: Mary Kathryn Balo, age 89, of Conesville, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
She was born on October 11, 1922, in Coshocton County to the late Bruce and Norma Cheney Powelson. Mary graduated from Conesville High School and married Joseph Balo on June 15, 1941, who survives. Mary was a member of Conesville United Methodist Church, a member of the Moose Lodge, and a 56 year member of the Conesville Women's Fire Auxillary; she enjoyed music, singing with the Sweet Adelines; quilting, crocheting, and knitting; she was one of the original creators of the Conesville Bazaar, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Along with her husband Joe, of 70 years; Mary is survived by her two sons, Terry (Kay Lynne) Balo and Dennis (Sally) Balo; two daughters, Karen (Dick) King and Kathie (Doug) McMillen; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sister's-in-law, Betty Magness and Mamie Powelson.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bruce Powelson and Eldon Powelson; sister, Betty Bookless; and many brother's and sister's-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, with Pastor Joy Blaney officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 19, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
