William "Bill" Barrett

ROSCOE: William Junior "Bill" Barrett, 90, of Roscoe, passed away at 5:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. Born March 9, 1921 in Coshocton County, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Ruth (Bosson) Barrett.

A 1939 graduate of Coshocton High School, he served as a Technician 4 in the U. S. Army during World War II from August 24, 1942 to November 6, 1945 with overseas duty in the European Theater where he was awarded two bronze stars for battles in the Rhineland and Central Europe.

Bill was a 25 year employee of the former General Electric retiring in 1985 and will be remembered for his love to hunt and fish. He was a member of the AmVets, V.F.W. #2040 and the Coshocton County Sportsman's Club.

On October 2, 1945 he married Ruth Elizabeth Parry and the couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on October 2, 2010. Surviving in addition to his wife Ruth are beloved family members son, William John Barrett, daughter Cynthia (Dennis) McCormick; four grandchildren, Ryan McCormick, Jami (Doug) Graham all of Coshocton, Bladen Barrett of Chambersburg, PA, Casey Barrett of Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Carter Graham both of Coshocton; two sisters, Joyce Thomas of West Lafayette, Gloria Jean Stahl of Coshocton and several nieces and nephews.

To honor Bill's request, there are no calling hours or funeral services. Memoriums may be made to the Hospice Memorial Program, P. O. Box 1284, Coshocton, Ohio 43812. Envelopes are available at Free Funeral Home, Coshocton who is honored to serve the
