BRINKHAVEN: Wilson Porter West, age 83, of Brinkhaven, Ohio went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, June 7, 2013 at Majora Lane Care Center, Millersburg, Ohio following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, Ohio with Pastor Ray Hodges officiating. Burial will be at the Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck, Ohio with Military Rites being conducted by the Killbuck VFW. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born January 22, 1930 in Wallback, West Virginia and was the son of Walter Everett and Lucy Maude (Beckett) West. On December 9, 1951 he married Joyce Chaney and she survives.
Wilson worked at Rice-Chadwick Rubber Co. in Killbuck and he loved to farm. He attended Tiverton Church of Christ. Wilson was a Veteran of the US Army National Guard and was a member of the Millersburg Eagles, where he served 2 terms as President.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children; Danny (Karen) West of Coshocton, Ohio, Crystal Lydic of Welcome, Ohio, Brenda Eaches of Coshocton, Ohio and Beth (Mike) Johnson of Indiana; seven grandchildren; Danielle (Mike) Poland, Chad (Jen) Lydic, Heather (Brian) Dovenbarger, Bryan (Sonya) Lydic, Brittany Saylor, Virgil Eaches and Megan West; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; Arnold West of Texas; and two sisters; Inez Rogers of Wallback, West Virginia and Dorothy Wilmoth of Laurelville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle, Ab West, one sister, Dolly Walker, and one brother, Launie West.
