WARSAW: James Craig Thompkins, 72, of Warsaw went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 10, 2014. Jim was born on December 21, 1941 to the late George Lennon and Pauline (Hall) Thompkins.
Jim graduated from Coshocton High School in 1959 and served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He returned to Coshocton and was employed by General Electric in 1961, and worked there until he retired. While working at General Electric he also drove bus for Hopewell Schools and had a deep love for his kids. After retiring he went back to school to be an STNA and worked both at Echoing Hills and Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was very active and enjoyed racing cars, running as an EMT, gardening, woodworking, and most of all helping people. He attended Gospel Hill Church and was a member of the VFW and Moose.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Moore) Thompkins; two daughters Renee (John Bissett) Harrison of Coshocton and Rhonda (Bob) Hoy of Columbus; son-in-law Brian Lee of Columbus; brother Stephen Thompkins of Texas; sister Marcia Shaw of Coshocton; grandchildren, Michael Hoy, Alex Lee, Breann Lee all of Columbus, Cheyenne Harrison of Coshocton and Brian Hoy of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; He was also blessed with the birth of a great-granddaughter Allison Rigel Hoy, daughter of Michael Hoy and Katie Kirwin. Jim is preceded in death by his daughter Rigel (Thompkins) Lee; and brother David Thompkins.
The family would like to say a special thank you and extend our gratitude to the nurses and aids at Autumn Care for all they did for him. Also a special thanks to his hospice care team for all you did to keep him as comfortable as possible.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home 639 Main Street, Coshocton Ohio on Thursday February 13, 2014 from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at The Miller Funeral Home on Friday February 14, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Canal Lewisville Cemetery where Coshocton County Honor Guard will perform military honors.
