WEST LAFAYETTE: Lester "Bud" Hursey, age 75, of West Lafayette, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Monday, May 23, 1938 in Newcomerstown to the late Arthur Raymond and Mabel (Durben) Hursey. He was a 1956 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He retired from AK Steel in Coshocton. Bud proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Lafayette, a member of the American Legion and a former member of the Gold Wing Rider's Club of America.
On October 7, 1986, he married the former Beverly (Norris) Hursey, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hibinger and her companion Brian Wilson of Canal Lewisville; his step-sons, David Thornsley and his companion Diane Sauerbrey of West Lafayette, and Todd Thornsley and his wife Christy of West Lafayette; his grandchildren, Trisha Hottinger and her companion Jeremi Dickerson, Adam Thornsley and his wife Ashley, Leya and Chelsea Thornsley, Terri and Tiffany Mounts, Cortney and Dakota Albertson, Jessica Guinther and Kelcie Mattison; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacey Lynn Hursey; his brothers, Raymond "Dane" and George; and his sisters, Jean Beall, Marjorie Williams; and his step-daughter, Pam Mounts.
Services will be on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Addy Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Kraft officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 23 at the Addy Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Jacobs Cemetery where the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
