Geraldine Harstine

WEST LAFAYETTE: "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put his arms around you and whispered, come to me." Geraldine (Foster) Harstine, age 59 of West Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Coshocton, on April 5, 1955, to the late Dan and Virginia (Brown) Foster. Geraldine spent her early years growing up on the family farm in Fresno, Ohio, graduating in 1973, from Ridgewood High School.

On June 28, 1975, she married Ed Harstine and together they raised two daughters. She was a homemaker and for the past 22 years, she was employed as a Pre-School classroom assistant by the Coshocton County Board of MRDD.

Geraldine was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of West Lafayette and was very active in the church. She helped organize the food stop for the Farm Foliage Tour serving over 1000 people. She was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time at her home with her family. She enjoyed working with the children and parents at Hopewell and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Ed, Geraldine is survived by her two daughters, Misty (Tim) Siddle of West Lafayette and Jennifer (Nick Hahn) Laudick of Coshocton; step-son, Travis (Alba) Harstine of Lake Placid, FL; grandchildren, Alexis Harstine of Columbus, Abby and Emmie Siddle of West Lafayette, Bailey and Kendall Laudick all of Coshocton, and Alan Harstine of Lake Placid, FL; sisters, Mary (Tim) Robinson of Hartford City, IN, and Rita Shaw of West Lafayette; her twin brother, Jerry Foster of Sugarcreek; brother-in-law, Jeff (DeeDee) Harstine of Florida; sisters-in-law, Mary Norman of Columbus and Peggy Mitchell of Cooperdale; father-in-law, Paul Harstine of West Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim, Paul, and Dean Foster; mother-in-law, Bernice Harstine; brother-in-law, James Shaw; and sister-in-law, Nancy Foster.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in West Lafayette from 2-5:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014, at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor David Kraft officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
