COSHOCTON: Vera Jean Girod, 81, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at her residence on Thursday, August 11, 2011.
She was born in Uniontown, Pa., on June 3, 1930, the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Velma C. (Truman) Girod. Vera was first employed by Shaw-Barton in Coshocton, and then became the legal secretary for Attorney Robert C. Weaver in Coshocton, where she served for over 35 years.
Vera is survived by her brother, Fleet T. Girod of Coshocton, Ohio; her two nieces, Tracy Fichtelman and Karen Girod, both of Columbus, Ohio; and a nephew, Tom Girod of Martinsburg, W.Va; she is also survived by several great nieces, nephews, friends, and her companion, her cat, C.D. McDuff.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio, on Monday, August 15, 2011, at 1:30pm, with Father William Hritsko officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 1:00pm to 1:30pm on Monday at the funeral home. Following cremation, her cremated remains will be interred in Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio, at a later date.
