COSHOCTON: Dan Dennis, age 66, of Coshocton, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Riverside Hospital.
He was born in Newcomerstown on April 18, 1945 to the late Roy and Ruth Jane (Sells) Dennis. Dan attended Newcomerstown High School and then Kent State University. He was an insurance salesman for Prudential for over 20 years and a lifetime antiques dealer. Dan played football during high school and in college, and was an avid Ohio State Football fan. He enjoyed antique cars, once owning a 1957 Chevy and a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner, he loved studying maps, grilling, cooking, and spending time with his family. Dan was the "go to guy "for everyone and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vicki (Canter) Dennis; daughter, Holly (Michael Osborn) Dennis of Sarasota, FL; step-son, Mike (Kortnee) Sorbin of Overland Park, KS; five grandchildren, Linus Illch, Brady Sorbin, Aubree Sorbin, Evan Lanning and Grant Lanning; brother, Joseph Keith Dennis of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Kay (Gossett)Dennis and four nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Dan is preceded in death by a brother, Jon Jack Dennis; and infant sister, Sue Diane Dennis; one niece, Lori Beth Dennis; and sister-in-law, Roberta (Rindfleisch) Dennis.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton, at 11:00 am. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 20, from 5-8:00 p.m.
