Rita "Marcene" (Courtright) Arthurs

COSHOCTON: Rita "Marcene" (Courtright) Arthurs, 88, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Autumn Health Care Center on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. She was born in Conesville, OH on July 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Jesse Lee and Ottice Mae (Miller) Courtright.

Marcene was a 1942 graduate of Conesville High School, where she was a cheerleader and office worker. She resided in Conesville until the fall of 2001, when she moved to Covington Square, then became a resident of Autumn in 2010. Marcene married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Andrew Arthurs on March 22, 1947. He passed away on September 9, 1979.

She was a teacher aide and library aide at Conesville Elementary for 23 years, retiring in 1991. Marcene enjoyed counted cross-stitching and crafts, her children and grandchildren were the recipients of her loving, detailed work. She loved spending time with her family, and traveling to see them near and far. Marcene was a life-long member of the Conesville United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Andy Lee (Barb) Arthurs, and Marla Kay (Jerry) Hawthorne; four grandchildren, Rita Marie (Peter) Fink, Andrew "Lee" (Courtney Weaver) Arthurs, Carrie (Brian) Scheetz, and Cathy (Ryan) List; two great-grandchildren, who completed her family, Madyson Lynne List and Bryley Jayne Arthurs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Marcene is preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Teddy and Johanna Courtright; special cousin, Helena Stillinger; and sister-in-law Donna Chapman.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00pm with Reverend Craig Redecker officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.
