PANAMA CITY, FL: French Edwin Meek, Jr., 83, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012, in Panama City, Florida.
A native of Coshocton, Ohio, he was the son of the late French E. Meek, Sr., and Opal Senter Meek. He was retired from the State of Ohio and the State of Georgia as a correctional officer. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, and the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He then retired from the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of the Lancaster Masonic Body, Scottish Rite of Macon, Georgia, and Shaddai Shrine Temple of Panama City, Florida, and is a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife: Doris Heaton Meek; his son: Heinz E. Meek; his step-son: Greg (Sophie) Blosser; his step-daughter: Pamela (Mark) Williams; and grandchildren: Michelle Blosser, Kevin Blosser, Kyle Williams, and Katy Williams; also surviving are sisters: Eva Watkins, Wilma Meek; brother: Alvin (Joann) Meek; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son: Michael D. Meek; sisters: Alice Dobson, Ethel Chase, Mildred Parks; and a brother: George Meek, all of Coshocton, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held in South Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11:30am, with the Coshocton Co. Veterans Council conducting military rites. The family will receive friends at Given Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday, from 10:00am to 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shrine or to the local VFW.
