NEWCOMERSTOWN: William H. "Bill" Murphy, age 99, of Coshocton, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Newcomerstown, Ohio.
He was born in Coshocton County on November 10, 1913, to the late Carrie Murphy. Bill was a United States Veteran serving in the Army during WWII. He landed at Normandy and fought in Germany and in France.
On January 4, 1941, he married Helen (Jennings) Murphy, who passed away on January 6, 2012. Bill worked for Shaw Barton and then retired from Spencer Walker Press in Newark. He enjoyed golfing, small game hunting, fishing, antique dealing, and being the "life of the party." Bill and Helen devoted their lives to family especially their children and will be missed by all.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Linda (Dan Stypula) Murphy of Munroe Falls, Ohio; grandson, Joshua P. Murphy of Heath, Ohio; great grandson, Aden Murphy of New Lexington, Ohio; many loving nieces and nephews; and great nieces, and great nephews. Along with his mother and wife Helen, Bill is preceded in death by his son, Timothy P. Murphy.
Per Bill's wishes, a cremation will take place with a Graveside service at a later date. For those that wish, memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to www.woundedwarriorproject.org or for those unable to give a monetary contribution, please thank a veteran for your freedom.
The family would like to thank and gratefully acknowledge The Memory Care Unit at Riverside Manor for the special and loving care they gave to Bill over the last 17 months. We know that they also grieve. Thanks also to Crossroads Hospice for their gentle and intuitive end of life care.
