Florence Edith Easterday

COSHOCTON: Florence Edith Easterday, 98, of Coshocton, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Sunday, May 5, 2013.

She was born in Boone, North Carolina, on March 25, 1915, the daughter of the late Carroll and Nettie (Moody) Hayes. After moving to Coshocton, Ohio, she attended Coshocton High School, and was employed for several years at Novelty Advertising Co. and The Beach Co. in Coshocton, Ohio. Florence loved music of all kinds, and came from a very musical family in the Boone, N.C. area. She sang, played the Bass guitar, piano, organ, and the banjo. She also loved being with her family, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Florence married Raymond Easterday on October 21, 1936, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1989. Florence is survived by her three sons, Clarence "Sonny" (Margie) Easterday, and Tom Easterday, both of Coshocton, Ohio, and Larry (Jeannie) Easterday of Lafayette, Tennessee; her six grandchildren, Janice Lawrence, Barb Karr, Sara Jane Lewellen, Valerie Smith, Dwane Easterday, Sue Ellen Jones; her 11 great grandchildren, and her seven great-great grandchildren; her sister, Mabel Pollock of Newcomerstown, Ohio; her two brothers, Howard Hayes of Kimbolton, Ohio, and Homer Hayes of Beaver Creek, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Judith Lee Easterday, Alice Jean Bailey; infant grandchild, Jill Darlene; her three sisters, Lois Patterson, Lena Hammersley, Leota Postel; her four brothers, Press, Fred, Jack, and Claude Hayes.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio, on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 11:00am, with Pastor C. E. Easterday officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends and family at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, from 5 to 7pm, and until the service time on Thursday.
