Robert E. "Bob" Paynter

DRESDEN: Robert E. "Bob" Paynter, 71, of Zanesville, Ohio died Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville.

Born March 9, 1943 in Canton, Ohio he was a son of the late James Carl and Verne (Neville) Paynter Untied. Mr. Paynter retired after 35 years of service as a construction worker working from the Laborer's Union Local #134 of Newcomerstown, Ohio. He attended Chalfant's Church in Coshocton County and he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR, but his greatest enjoyment was attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He also loved being with his dog, "Rusty".

Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry Marie (Strohacker) Paynter whom he married October 15, 1963; two daughters and sons in-law, Bobbi and Darin Wise of Frazeysburg and Holly and Adam Mitchell of Nashport, Ohio; four grandchildren, Eric Mitchell and his girlfriend, Haylee Stewart, Ashley Mitchell, Lorin Wise and Lydia Wise; four brothers, Jim Paynter of Heath, Ohio, Derral Paynter of Vancouver, Washington, Jack (Bonnie) Paynter and Danny (Linda) Paynter both of Trinway, Ohio; one sister, Jacqueline (Don) Garner of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; a brother in-law and sister in-law, Jerry (Wava) Strohacker of Dresden; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Paynter.

Calling hours will be 5pm to 9pm Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street. Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, April 11, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dresden Volunteer Fire Department, Post Office Box 687, Dresden, Ohio 43821.
