Mary Vick Obituary

Mary Margaret Coleman Vick died peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at home.

She was born on September 14, 1929, in Conroe, Texas. A descendant of two pioneer Conroe families, the Samuel K. Haileys and J. W. Colemans, Mary Margaret was the daughter of the late Myron and Eleanor Hailey Coleman. She graduated from Conroe High School and attended Southwestern University. She was a graduate of Massey Business School.

Mary Margaret married the love of her life, Robert Martin Vick, on August 6, 1948. For sixty-seven years, they were an inspiration to many, including their two daughters, Marti Vick Riggall of Charleston, West Virginia, and Lucy Vick Kneisley, Conroe. She was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church, Conroe. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and their families. Mary Margaret enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood years and friends in Conroe and her quick wit brightened the room until the very end.

She is preceded in death by her infant son born in 1953, and her brother-in-law, J. Peter Gaffney. Mary Margaret was soon joined by her husband of over sixtyseven years, Robert Martin. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Marti and William Riggall and Lucy and Kevin Kneisley. She was a beloved "Mommee" to her grandchildren: Todd and wife Stephanie Long, Ellicott City, MD; Shaina Riggall Starcher and her husband Clifford, Charleston, WV; Korin Riggall Parsons and husband Tony, Charleston, WV; Coleman and wife Blakely Kneisley, Houston, TX; Robert and wife Amanda Kneisley, Conroe, TX; and Samuel and wife Brittany Kneisley, Houston, TX.

Mary Margaret also was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Ameera Elizabeth Starcher, Amina Gineve Starcher, Nicholas Martin Long, Emerie Noelle Parsons, and Lucy Elizabeth Kneisley. She also is survived by her sister, Charlotte Coleman Gaffney, Shreveport, LA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 22, 2016, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Conroe, Texas. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 4308 West Davis St. Conroe, TX 77304, or the charity of your choice.

We will forever hold Mary Margaret in our hearts.

To Lucy Kneisley and all of the Vick family; All through the years I often spoke to you parents at our church. They were both so very dear. I was privileged to sit with them at Morris Bateman's 100th birthday party and enjoyed our visit. The staff at Conroe Regional Cardic Rehab dearly loved your father and were so saddened at hear that your parents had passed away. They were so worried about "Bo" your father's dog. He had always spoken so lovingly about his "Bo" (I attend rehab three days a week.) My friend, Becky Page assured us that Bo would be well cared for,
My heart aches for you in the loss of your precious parents.
Many prayers,
Bonnie Wilkinson

Martin was an amazing fellow. He was always talking about his family and his beloved little Beau. At his age, he still taught me a thing or two about an iPad, sharing a blog he read or his photo stream! He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Love to his family. Katie, RN at cardiac rehab.
