Harold Dean "H.D." Watson, 86 of New Waverly, Texas passed away on October 8, 2013. He was born December 1, 1926 in Richards, Texas to George and Annie Watson.
H.D. served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a farmer in his earlier years. Following farming, he worked many years for the U.S. Forest Service and then for Louisiana Pacific Forestry Division before retiring from both.
He treasured the time spent after retirement with his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and always produced bountiful crops. He enjoyed hunting, especially duck and squirrel and could play a mean hand of 42, he was almost unbeatable.
H.D. cherished time with his grandchildren, Jeremy and Hilary and they adored him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Kroll Watson. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Jerry Watson and his wife Carolyn, and Mike Watson and his wife Debbie all of New Waverly, Texas; sister Eloise Watson Garrett of Richards, Texas; two grandchildren, Jeremy Watson of Houston, Texas and Hilary Watson of Katy, Texas; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Watson Friday, October 11, 2013 10:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Richards, Texas.
