William A. Franklin (Joe), born August 26, 1931, went to be with the Lord February 2, 2014. He was born to Melvin and Zoni Franklin in Crossville, Tennessee. He was a Sgt. Medic in the Army for 23 years. He sold cars, mobile homes, and encyclopedias. His last job was working for Yellow Transit Railroad. He loved working in his yard, and he was a champion at playing checkers. He was also a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. Joe was married to Glyn-Nell Franklin for 40 years. They had five children: Michael Franklin (deceased), Alethea Wright of Biloxi, MS, Kelli Guyton of San Antonio, Chris Wernli of Friendswood, and Paul Franklin of El Paso. Joe has 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one surviving brother in Muncie, IN; one sister in Jamestown, TN; numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Joe last lived in El Paso for 41 years, until he came to Conroe where he spent the last 3 years in Park Manor Nursing Home which we were very grateful for his care. He will make his last journey to El Paso where he will be buried with full military honors per his wishes.
