Denise Lynn Martin Russell was born on January 3, 1966 in Arcadia, California; and she sadly left this world far too early on May 1, 2017 at the age of 51 in Conroe, Texas.
Denise was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a giving sister and a caring and hardworking person. She never met a stranger. Denise was a person who always had a smile on her face. She was willing to help where needed, always going the extra mile. Nothing brought her greater joy than caring for others, especially animals. Denise will be remembered for all of these attributes and many more. Above all, Denise loved her family and friends and she was much loved by us and will be greatly missed.
Denise was predeceased by her parents Billy and Ethel Martin; her sister, Carol Martin, and her mother-in-law, Rose Ella Singleton. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Russell of Conroe Texas. They shared a wonderful 32 years together not only as husband and wife but as best friends. Her daughters, Tiffany Rose and her husband, David Jackson of Pflugerville Texas; and Tara Lynn Russell of Conroe Texas.
She is also survived by the little love of her life, her grandson, Hunter Allen Russell-Pierce. Also surviving are her sisters, Debbie Martin and Misty and her husband Travis Petty and her brother, Bruce Martin, as well as nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at Metcalf Funeral Home on Friday, May 5th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Denise's memory donations may be made to the Conroe Animal Shelter, Reaves Elementary PTO, or a charity of your choice.

Robbie, to say that we were shocked and saddened by Denise's untimely death, is an understatement. We are so very sorry that we were unable to attend her memorial service. We will always remember her smile and the way she kept the neighborhood under watch. Denise was truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many. You and the girls remain in our thought and prayers. I'm at a lost. Still speechless. I think every night that this is a horrible nightmare and when I wake up you will still be here. It's very true what they say, you don't realize what you have till it's gone. I will make sure Tara and Hunter are taken care of. And that Robert will see Hunter as often as he wants to. We are family and always will be. I miss you. What most don't realize is I depended on you without you even knowing. You did things I was unable to do with Hunter. Now it's time for me to step up my Grandma duties. RIP. Till we meet again.

My heart breaks for your entire family. I know how much she loved her Hunter-man. She was the best Grandmother to him. I am so sorry and pray for God to give you comfort and peace.

Denise was my classmate and friend. I re-connected with her when I went to work for Conroe High 10 years ago. She was definitely a bright spot when she walked in the room. May God Bless your family during this difficult time.

I knew Mrs. Russell as a wonderful room mom for her grandson's class. She was the most thoughtful and generous room parent! She made her own treat bags for the kids for every holiday and came to all our parties and field trip, too! She made sure we had plenty of snacks and ALL that we needed and wanted! We all miss her kind, thoughtful ways. She was always smiling, positive, and upbeat! Mrs. Russell gave everything she had to those she knew! Such a blessing to us!

Tiffany and Family: Although I never met Denise, knowing and working with the beautiful, loving daughter she raised has surely given me insight into the wonderful soul she was. I pray for healing for your family and that you may find peace within yourselves and as a family unit.

Denise worked at MCCS when my children Kenji and Erika were enrolled there. While neither of them were in her class, we still had daily contact with her. The one thing we could always count on with Denise is that she would greet us with a smile. In the following years we frequently ran into each other while out shopping, and she was always upbeat and smiling. It just breaks my heart to know that this sweet, happy lady has left us. Metsie, I'm so sorry for you and all Denise's family and friends. Please find comfort in knowing that her faith in God has become sight, and her reward will be great.
