Marjorie Lynn Hayes, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on September 1st, 2013; she was a Conroe resident for almost 35 years and was 81 years old. Marjorie was born on February 21st, 1932 in Bartlett, Texas. She was born to C.F. and Bertie Hill and was the oldest of five children. Marjorie obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She later obtained a Masters Degree in Administration from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. While at Southwestern University, Marjorie met the love of her life, Bobby Archie Hayes. Bob and Marjorie were married for 54 years until his passing in 2007. Margie devoted her life to education. She was an inspiration in the classroom and touched many lives while teaching various grades 1st - 6th. In addition to her time spent in the classroom, she also served as a reading specialist, a career counselor and an assistant principal. Margie lived life to its fullest after surviving Hodgkin's Lymphoma and was the recipient of a Bone Marrow Transplant from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Marjorie remained cancer free for the remainder of her life allowing her to continue pursuing her lifelong dreams. Her amazing recovery and story of perseverance earned her a spot on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show featuring "Women of Courage". Marjorie's life was filled with many adventures. From playing the part of a Nun in The Crighton Theater's production of The Sound of Music to winning the title of Mrs. Texas United Nations and competing in California for Mrs. U.S.A. where she won the Director's Award. But when asked what her greatest achievement was, Marjorie would answer her never ending love and marriage to her soul mate and husband, Bob and her adoration for her two children Bobby and Holly. Marjorie's life became complete after the adoption of her children. She often devoted her time as an advocate and counselor to others for adoption and felt strongly that she had been truly blessed to be both a mother and a grandmother.
