age 85, of Montgomery, TX, passed away on February 20, 2014 at his home in April Sound, with his loving wife of 33 years, Jo, by his side. Don was born on July 5, 1928 in Zurich, KS, to Lyd and Hattie Anderson. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1946 to 1949 in Alaska, working primarily in communications. Following his discharge from the Air Force, he enrolled and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. Don later moved to Port Isabel, TX where he and his brother operated a motel on South Padre Island for six years. He then obtained his teaching certificate and taught math classes in Port Isabel. In 1965, he moved to Houston and taught in the Spring Branch ISD until his retirement in 1981. He spent the next ten years working in decorative hardware in Spring Branch and restoring a friend's historical house in Independence, TX. After building his home in April Sound, he and his wife, Jo Anderson, became permanent residents in 1993.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Lyd and Hattie Anderson, and his brother John. He is survived by his wife, Jo Anderson; son, Zachary Mark Anderson; stepdaughter, Barrie Lynn Jubert; and granddaughter, Allison Ryan Jubert.
