Doris passed away peacefully, with her family be her side, at West Coast General Hospital in Port Alberni on October 26, 2013, at 73 years of age following a brief illness. October 26th also marked the 45th anniversary of her wedding to her late husband, Frank Cyr.
She was born on April 5, 1940 in St. Boniface, Manitoba. She worked at St. Boniface General Hospital in St. Boniface from 1956 until 1968. She married Frank Cyr on October 26, 1968, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Port Alberni afterward.
Doris was predeceased by her father, Alfred Rivard, her mother, Hermine Rivard, her brother, Albert Rivard, her sister, Lea Guenette and her husband, Frank Cyr. She is survived by her sons, Marc and Rene, daughter, Nicole Turner and granddaughters, Kiesha and Shauna Turner; brothers, Marcel Rivard (Pat) and Ernest Rivard (Diane); sisters, Therese Vaillancourt, Lucille St. Hilaire (Noel) and Evelyn Pelletier (Ben), as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and specialists at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, West Coast General Hospital and the Renal Dialysis Units in Port Alberni for all their care and compassion.
A funeral and reception will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at Notre Dame Parish, 4731 Burke Rd, commencing at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
