Sargent, Betty Jane Meeker  
Betty Jane Meeker Sargent AGE: 94 • Asheville, NC Asheville, NC - Betty Jane Meeker Sargent, age 94, a resident of Givens Estates Retirement Community in Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was born in Rochester, New York, on August 24, 1920, to the late Alfred and Mildred Lancaster. A graduate of Charlotte High School, she was the Assistant Secretary Treasurer of the American Nepheline Company until 1946 while attending the University of Rochester. A member of Asbury First United Methodist Church, where she met and married Willard Franklin Meeker, she committed her life to raising her family as a loving mother and homemaker. They moved to New Jersey in 1951 and were members of Collingswood First United Methodist Church for 37 years, serving the Lord in many capacities. Retiring to Waynesville, North Carolina in 1998, they became active members of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville until their move to Givens Estates in 1998. Willard died in 2000, and she married Roland Sargent in 2002. In addition to her first husband of 56 years, Willard Meeker, Betty was also preceded in death by a son, Lynn Alan Meeker; her second husband of 11 years, Roland Sargent; her brothers, Robert and Glenn Lancaster; and sisters, Joyce Hugenbruch and Maude Frank. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patrice and Dr. Michael Masters of Clyde; her stepdaughter, Nancy Mertz and Tom of Dexter, Michigan; her stepson, Peter Sargent and Cathy of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; as well as her step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews, along with their families. A special thank you to her long-time caregiver, Cindy McCurry, as well as to caregivers Jennifer, Michelle, Francina, Angela, Laurie and Rebecca from Interim HealthCare and the staff of Givens Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 1, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Tammy Bales officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Robert T. Scarduzio AGE: 76 • Egg Harbor Twp. On July 27, 2015. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, he lived in West Covina, CA before moving to Egg Harbor Twp., NJ 15 years ago. Beloved husband of the late Joan D. Scarduzio (nee Simmons). Dear brother of the late Bernard Scarduzio (Bet), Martin Scarduzio, Sr. (the late Dolores), Natalie Guagenti (the late Joseph) and Catherine Scarduzio. Schadt, Edith M.  
Edith M. Schadt AGE: 93 • Woodbury Heights Edith M. Schadt age 93, of Woodbury Heights formerly of Bellmawr and Collingswood passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, she was very active her entire life. Edith was a faithful member of the Fairview Community Baptist Church for 80 years where she was married and taught Sunday School for many decades. She worked part-time at Macy's in Cherry Hill 25 years. Edith enjoyed crafts, loved cooking & baking and volunteered for the Salvation Army's Meals on Wheels program delivering meals to the disabled in their homes. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wife of the late August C. Schadt, she is survived by her two daughters, Gail Read & her husband Richard of Woodbury Heights, and Linda McDonald of West Deptford, two grandchildren Sharon Geraghty & her husband Glen, and Daniel Read & his wife Diane, four great grandchildren, Morgan & Micah Geraghty, and Cole & Lauren Read. Edith was predeceased by her sister, Marian and brothers Herbert & Jack Muench. Family and friends may visit from 10 to 11 AM Friday, July 31st, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM and burial will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park in Cherry Hill. Schmidt, H. Mitchell  
H. Mitchell Schmidt AGE: Age 87 • longtime Haddonfield Resident On July 19, 2015, longtime Haddonfield resident, H. Mitchell Schmidt, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Schmidt, his son Mitchell (Naomie) Schmidt of State College, PA, his granddaughters Elizabeth and Emily Crossen, his grandsons Ethan and Evan, his great-grandsons Makena, Judah and Augustine and his brother John (Maryanne) Schmidt of Haddonfield, NJ. Mitchell was a Chemical Engineer graduate of Penn State University and the University of Delaware. He retired after working as a project Manager for Dupont in the Chemical Production department for 33 years. Mitchell was a member of the Y's men club of Haddonfield, NJ. As a World War II Veteran, he was a member of the Benjamin Franklin Post #405 of Philadelphia, PA. Additionally, he participated in the Colonial Society of Pennsylvania and MOLLUS (Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the U.S.) and the Historical Society of Haddonfield. Services were held privately. Memorial donations in Mitchell's name may be made to the Richard's Civil War Center at Penn State, 108 Weaver Building, University Park, PA 16802.

Kathleen Marie Smith AGE: 44 • Washington Twp. Kathleen Marie Smith, age 44, of Washington Twp., NJ passed away at home, on Saturday July 25, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Patricia Smith-Donnelly (nee Hammel) and her dad, the late Gerald T. Smith. Loving sister of Kevin Smith and Gregory (Deborah Curtis) Smith. Proud aunt of Kira, Kali, Riley, and Caden. She is also survived and will be sadly missed by her wonderful dog, COCO, and her best friend Janine Twaddell. Kathleen was born in Mobile, AL and was a longtime New Jersey resident. She worked as a surgical coordinator/administrative assistant in the Urology Dept for Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. Visitation will be held on Monday August 3, 2015 from 11:00 to 12:30 pm at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville, NJ 08012. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:30 pm at the church.
