AGE: 87 • Mt. Ephraim
On August 28, 2011, of Mt. Ephraim, NJ. Age 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Arlie H. King. Loving mother of Bruce of Mt. Ephraim, NJ, Michel (Elizabeth) of Charlottesville, VA and Glenn (Sandra) of Barrington, NJ. Devoted grandmother of Noelle, Douglas, Melissa, Vanessa, Sonya, Ellyn, Andrew, Alexandra and Aimee; 8 great grandchildren and a great, great grandson. Predeceased by her sister, Paule Fleury. Also survived by special nephews, Daniel and Jean.
Anselma was born in France, grew up in a small village between Paris and the Palace at Versailles and survived the Nazi occupation. She met her future husband, Arlie, who had marched across France as part of the U.S. Army's liberation forces, at a USO event in Paris shortly after the war ended. After a long distance correspondence lasting several months, Anselma emigrated to Arlie's hometown of Philadelphia where they were married in 1946. The happy couple then moved a short distance across the Delaware River to South Jersey where they bought a home and raised their family. Anselma spent many years working for Esterbrook Pen Company in Camden and I. Goldberg Army & Navy store in Philadelphia before retiring to Mt. Ephraim, NJ where she enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her three sons, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great, great grandson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday 9 to 10 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 10 AM. Interment Fernwood Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
