Elvera M. Borget

Elvera M. Borget went home to be with her divine Lord and Savior on August 17, 2012. She was born on January 24, 1913 to Francesco & Aurelia Picarella of Pennsylvania. Elvera graduated from Bloomsburg State Teachers
College in 1932 and was married to Lewis Borget until his passing in 1966. Elvera lived to be 99 years old, enjoying a rich life devoted to family, her career in education and doing God's work.
She married Lewis Borget in July of 1941 in Shamokin, PA. They had five children: Ellie, Louis, Arthur who passed in June 2011, Anne Marie and Tina. She also had four grandchildren: Rick, Christine, Scott and David. Elvera had three great grandchildren, given to her by her only granddaughter, Christine. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Elvera was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her dear son Arthur, her brothers and sisters: Eugene, Art, John, Anna and Christine, and her son-in-law Bill. Elvera is survived by four children, her sister Emily, her daughter-in-law Christine, her sons-in-law Michael and Ken, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Elvera taught school in Coal Township and Treverton, PA. She became the first lay teacher at OLPH in Maple Shade, where she was a resident for almost 60 years. Later she continued her career in teaching in Woodlynne and Marlton, NJ. After retiring from teaching, Elvera held weekly rosary groups, visited the infirmed in nursing homes throughout the area, and taught the original Cistercian monks in Mount Laurel to speak English when they came to the U.S. from Italy. Elvera had a very full life, loving her family and friends all the while living her faith in God. Many people along her life's journey have been forever changed for the better just by knowing her. Her beautiful memory will live on in all the many lives she touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Elvera's Life Celebration on Thursday, August 23, at Inglesby/Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 E. Main St., from 9 - 10:15 am. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at St. John Neumann Church, 560 Walton Avenue, Mount Laurel. Interment will be private.
