Evelyn Guarnieri Powers
Evelyn Guarnieri Powers known as Evie of Moorestown, passed away on June 16 at home in Moorestown with her family, following a long battle with thyroid cancer. She was born February 3, 1947 to Caroline Van Huffell Guarnieri, daughter of the founder and owner of Van Huffell Tube Corp. in Warren, Ohio and Fred Guarnieri a prominent attorney in Warren, Ohio.
Survived by her loving husband, William R. Powers, Jr., ESQ. She was the mother of Carrie M. Reinders (Andrew) of Ashburn, VA with children, Alayna, Aiden and William (Liam) and Robert J. Cummings (Shannon) of Yardley, PA with children Lindsey and Kayla and step-mother to William Robert Powers, III (Krys Miguel) of San Francisco and their child Phaedra. She leaves her siblings Mary Carson (Bill) of Pine Valley, NJ and Naples, FL; Frank Guarnieri of Great Falls, VA, Sarah Buzga (Bob) of Hyde Park, NY; Fred Guarnieri (Pat) of Oaklyn, NJ, Hal Guarnieri (Beth) of Richmond, VA; James Guarnieri (Marilou) of Brandon, FL; Peggy Isman (Hon. James) of Linwood, NJ; Philip Guarnieri of Warren, Ohio and David Guarnieri (Marilyn) of Richmond, VA.
Evelyn graduated from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia in 1969 with a degree in English and Secondary Education. She taught English in Saint George's County, MD until she relocated to the Philadelphia area to work in personnel recruiting and then as a claims adjuster for Colonial Penn Insurance Company and Fireman' Fund insurance Company both in Philadelphia. Later she obtained a certification as a Personal Fitness Instructor and taught body pump and aerobic. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Moorestown, NJ where she taught CCD for two years. She was an active member of Laurel Creek Country Club in Moorestown, NJ, serving two years as President of the Women's Golf Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing and visitation with the family Thursday 6:00-9:00pm at McChesney Funeral Home, 30 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Main Street, Moorestown, NJ at 10:30am on Friday. Burial will follow at Mt. Laurel Cemetery, Mt. Laurel, NJ.
