James A. Saltenberger

James Albert Saltenberger, Sr., of Runnemede, age 70, died on January 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife Ella (nee Nowlan); four children, Janice, Cuffy, Jim, Jr. and Louise; and 8 grandchildren. Jim, or "Salty" as he was known, served as a Private E-1 (P) in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, driving Army trucks in Okinawa, Japan. He drove for CBS Records in the 1970's, was an owner-operator long-haul trucker in the early 1980's, then settled in for a 17-year career as a truck driver for the US Postal Service until he retired in 2003. He continued working through retirement, staffing a laundromat in Runnemede until he passed. Salty loved cats, golf, and traveling. He was an organ donor whose passing has helped enrich the lives of others. There will be visitation from 7 to 8pm Monday eve at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Memorial Service 8pm at the funeral home. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations in Salty's name be made to the Camden County Animal Shelter, 125 County House Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080.
