Mary Margaret Hanlon

Mary Margaret Hanlon (nee Charlton), aged 87, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, died surrounded by her children on Thursday July 12, 2012 of respiratory failure. Mary was born in Philadelphia and graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls where she formed many lifelong friendships. In 1945, Mary married William Francis Hanlon Jr. and had three children. The family relocated in 1962 from Philadelphia to Marlton, NJ where Mary was an active parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church and participated in local community groups. After her husband's death, Mary moved to Mt. Laurel in 1987 and was involved in many senior organizations. Mary touched everyone she met and was known for her high energy, ready smile and generous spirit.
Mary is survived by her children William F. Hanlon, III and his wife Lita, Diane Marter and her husband William, and Mary Ann Hallenborg and her husband Neil. Mary is also survived by a grandson, William Francis IV, five granddaughters, Desiree Marter Huffnagle, Stephanie Hanlon Madden, Danielle Marter Crotty, Devin Hanlon and Katharine Hallenborg, nine great-grandchildren, Steven Madden, Alex Madden, Ryan Huffnagle, Luke Crotty, Robert Huffnagle, Andrew Crotty, Alton, Baxter and Charlotte Jones, and by many dear friends. Mary was predeceased by her parents Margaret Gray and Daniel Charlton, and loving husband Bill Hanlon.
A viewing will be held Monday July 16, 2012 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel. An 11 AM funeral mass will follow at St. John Neumann Church, 560 Walton Ave., Mount Laurel. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Ave. & Easton Road, Philadelphia.
