Montez J. Spratley, also known as "Teddy," age 78, formally of Glassboro, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013, at Kennedy Medical Center, Washington Township. Montez was born in Camden, NJ.
Montez received his education through the Glassboro Public School System. After high school he enlisted in the Marines where he served four years before receiving an honorable discharge. Montez retired from Chrysler Corporation in Newark, Delaware with 33 years of service. Montez accepted the Lord in his life at the age of 60 years old, on the 1st Sunday of February 2001 at Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church in Glassboro, New Jersey; where he served on the Usher Board, Male Chorus, Director of Van Ministry, Chairman of the Trustee Board and was ordained as a Deacon on August 1, 2004. Montez joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Camden New Jersey on March 9, 2008 where he served on the Male Chorus, Deacon Board and Street Ministry.
Montez leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife and best friend of 29 years Jacqueline, (Roland) two beautiful children, Jeffrey Spratley (Arlene) of New Castle, Delaware and Sandra Spratley of Paulsboro, New Jersey. One grand-daughter, Deja Spratley of Newport News Virginia. His Siblings, Reginald Spratley, Dorothy Spratley and Christine Dorn of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Robert and Ronald Spratley (Mary) all of Sicklerville, NJ, and Sophronia Matthews of Glassboro, New Jersey. Father in law, William Roland Sr. Brother in laws, William Jr (Karen), Bobby Rogers, and Gregory Roland of Atlanta, Georgia. Sister in Laws Gwendolyn Roland and Joycelyn Davis (Leon) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, October 20, 2013 6PM at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1198 Penn Street, Camden, NJ. Family and friends may call from 3PM until time of service. Interment: Monday, Oct. 21st 10AM at the Gates of Heaven cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ. Arrangements by: W.R. Woody Funeral Home, Burlington, NJ.
