George Washington Edwards Jr. (Bumper "T" Clown), 84, of Barrington, beloved husband of Betty Ruth Edwards, passed away on May 26, 2011. He is predeceased by 1 brother and 3 sisters. He is survived by children, Marie P., George W. III, Scott W., Susan Passeri, and Jeffrey S.; predeceased by son, Steven and grandchild, Samantha; survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
George proudly served in the U.S. Naval Services during WWII. He worked throughout his life supporting his family primarily in the kitchen business for many years. The true calling for George began when he volunteered his services to be a clown for the ill in many hospitals across the area. He founded an international organization titled Bumper "T" Caring Clowns that brings support and joy to those ill and in need of a smile. He received the Governor's Award for the Most Innovative Volunteer Program in NJ. He received a commendation from the World Clown Association as the largest hospital clowning organization in the US. He was active for many years in community based organizations and projects where he served in executive roles. George was a devoted and avid Eagles and Phillies fan. He touched the lives of so many.
