ANNA and ROBERT WAER Sr. In Memoriam

Anna T. (Tillman) and Robert E. Waer Sr. of Audubon were married 73 years when Anna passed away in March. Bob had passed in 2010. They were married December 12, 1936. Bob and Anna Waer have two children: Robert E. Waer Jr. of Mexico, Pa., and Barbara W. Mattison of Collingswood. They also have five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bob worked for four Delaware Valley newspapers: the Courier-Post, the Philadelphia Record, the Daily News and the Evening Bulletin. He began as an "Office Boy" at $7 per week, then moved to Cub Reporter and later to the Art Department finishing his working career as the News Art Editor. His first job at age fourteen was working from 6AM to 6PM in a hat factory earning less than 50 cents per day. Bob's primary hobby was oil and water color painting - many of his paintings decorate the walls of their, their children's and great-grandchildren's homes. Bob saved four lives - two from drowning and two from choking. He also always practiced healthy eating and exercise. Anna was the oldest of eleven children. She always had a lot of nervous energy and later worked outside their home for Fire Insurance Rating Corp. as a claims Specialist and later Supervisor. She and Bob bought a summer home in the Villas and spent almost every summer weekend there until 1999. Their children and grand children spent many a memorable summer's day there. Anna loved reading and watching the older programs on television. She and Loretta, her younger Sister talked every evening by telephone.

She continued to maintain her driver's license but family members and friends would take her to the store and lunches.
