Daniel Trainer Obituary
AGE: 72 • Collingswood
On January 12, 2013, of Collingswood, NJ. Age 72 years.
Beloved husband of 53 years to Joyce C. (nee Hughes). Dear father of Daniel A., Jr., Thomas, Joseph (Danielle) and Christopher (Elaina). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Marge (Jim) Epifano and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was a longtime coach of Collingswood athletics, including 50 years with Collingswood Little League, 39 years with the Collingswood Youth Wrestling program and over 30 years with the Collingswood Football program. In 2001, Dan was named Collingswood Citizen of the Year and was a 2004 inductee of the Collingswood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family on Sunday 11 AM to 2 PM at the Collingswood High School Gymnasium, 424 Collings Ave., Collingswood, NJ. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 PM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Dan's memory to the Collingswood Wrestling Association, c/o Ron Hamrick, Collingswood High School, 424 Collings Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.

Dan was the greatest guy. He was well loved and well respected by all in the "Colls" community and will never be replaced. All my prayers and sympathies to Joy and the family.

i coached youth wrestling at s.t.r.a.a. and also lenape jr in the grapevine league and sat in on many league meetings with dan his spirit and dedication for the wrestlers was always paramount to any thing else i am truly sorry for your loss dan will be missed but never forgotten

I am sorry for your loss... Coach Trainer helped my children a great deal with their time in Colls LL Baseball...My daughter was one of the few girls to play in the league, Coach Trainer helped all the kids...The harder you play the more joy he would get. Firm but always FAIR....

Mr. Trainer was always someone I admired and respected! I never player for him when he managed Foster's, but everyone knew what a great coach and mentor that he was!! RIP Mr. Trainer

Mr.Trainer was a terrific man in every aspect. I was one of the first that he coached way back in 1963. We won 2 championships. He made me a better player. When I became a adult our friedship continued. My prayers are with all his family and friends. We lost a great one.

Dear Trainer Family
We are so sorry to hear of Dan's passing. He was more than a coach to a lot of kids in Collingswood, he was like the extended Dad. Everyone loved him, because he gave from his heart. From grade school through high school, Danny, a few others, and I were "the neighborhood kids" who were always playing one kind of ball or another in our street (stepball was the favorite). Danny will remain always in my thoughts whenever I reflect on those happy times.

Dan was my son's baseball coach for many years. The best he ever had. Will always remember his great quotes, "My grandmother can run faster than that." He touched the lives of so many of our children. We will always remember him fondly.
