Mom took life and everything it had to offer with great enthusiasm. She was an Irish kid who went to NYC and became a successful model for the Walter Thornton Agency. In NYC Mom met the love of her life, Si, and together they ventured off to the wilds of Orlando. Joan was a self taught naturalist. As a "native" of rural central Florida she raised her children to have a deep and abiding love of all God's creations. Walking the Florida woods and the lake shorelines searching for new species of amphibians, reptiles and birds that she and her three children could observe and learn about. Life's journey brought them north again settling first in Willingboro and ultimately in Mt Laurel where she has been a resident for the last 45 years. Joan also had a deep passion for people and a willingness to step into others' lives and really listen, offering the best advice that she could give. After Si's death, Mom went on to become a licensed alcohol and drug addictions counselor, LDADC, helping others to find the road to recovery. She ended her career at Center for Family Services in Voorhees when she began her battle with cancer in 2009.
