Of Woodbury NJ on October 9 2001 age 71 years. Beloved husband of Jane (nee Evans) for 49 years. Survived by daughters Linda (Paul) McFadden of Wenonah Karen (Frank) Ulmer of Woodbury; sons John L. Jr. (Diane) White of Medford and Douglas (Kara) White of Medford Lakes. Brother of Lynn (Dorcas) White of Cape May; and 13 grandchildren. Born and raised in Audubon graduate of Audubon H.S. in 1948. Graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1952 Temple Univ. Law School in 1955. Lived 40 years in Woodbury. Long time summer resident of Ocean City NJ. He was a practicing attorney in Woodbury for over 40 years. Certified Civil Trial Attorney Supreme Court of NJ; Solicitor for Gloucester County Board of Freeholders Borough of Wenonah; and Woodbury Board of Education. Mr. White was a NJ State Assemblyman for Gloucester County 1963-1967 NJ State Senator for Gloucester and Salem Counties 1968-1972 President of Gloucester County Bar Assoc. 1979 President of NJ State Bar Assoc. 1985 Member of the NJ House of Delegates President of NJ Defense Assoc. Permanent Delegate to the Third Circuit Judicial Conference Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and American Bar Foundation. He received the Trial Bar Award from the Trial Attorneys of NJ the Martin Caulfield Distinguished Service Award by the Gloucester County Bar Assoc. the Woodbury JayCee's Young Man of the Year Award and Distinguished Citizen Award by the Southern NJ Council Boy Scouts of America. Underwood Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees for 38 years Chairman of the Board for 3 years. Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 20 years. Member of Presbyterian Church at Woodbury Elder and Member of the Permanent Judicial Commission of the West Jersey Presbytery. Honorary Life Member of the South Jersey Chiefs Police Assoc. Touchdown Club of South Jersey Board of Directors for 15 years.Also recently inducted into the Audubon High School Alumni Assoc. (Ring of Honor). Services Friday October 12 11 AM at Presbyterian Church at Woodbury Centre and Broad Sts Woodbury. Viewing Thursday October 11 from 6-9PM at DAVIS FUNERAL HOME 171 Delaware St. Woodbury NJ. Interment Wenonah Cemetery Wenonah NJ. Contributions requested to Presbyterian Church at Woodbury or Underwood-Memorial Hospital c/o John L. White Memorial Fund.
