John Theodore "Jack" Hinger, Sr.
AGE: 87 • Cherry Hill
Suddenly on July 24, 2013 age 87 of Cherry Hill, NJ. He was the beloved husband of 61 yrs to Flora Dorothea "Dottie" Hinger; and father of Judith Hinger (Darwin) Hoskins, John Theodore "Jack", Jr., and James Daniel "Jim" (Lorraine). He was also the grandfather of Pamela, Natalie, Kimberly, Jacqueline, Daniel, Matthew, and Bo; and great-grandfather to Aiden. He was the brother of Joseph Hinger and Claire Townsend. He was preceded in death by his parents Clara Tolle Whiteley Hinger and John Joseph Hinger and older brother William Whiteley.
Mr. Hinger attended Collingswood High School, Steelman's Business School and Muhlenberg College. He was a WWII US Navy veteran serving as a mechanic aboard the USS Coronis. He worked for National Biscuit Co, and after finishing his degree taught English at Cinnaminson High School. He retired in 1992 after helping find the Cinnaminson Alternative School.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 11:00 AM in St. Michael's Lutheran Church Chapel Ave. and Kings Hwy. Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Greenpeace or Doctors Without Borders. (ALLOWAY FUNERAL HOME Merchantville, NJ)
