Michael Vermes Obituary
AGE: 77 • formerly of Delran
Michael G. Vermes Sr., 77, passed away from cancer on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 in Budapest, Hungary. Mike fled to America in 1956 with his wife, Magdalena, to make a better life for himself and his family. He was a machinist by trade and some years later started his own business; Vermes Machine Co. He and his family moved to the Delran area in the early 60's. Mike had an incredible work ethic and old school mentality. His passion for soccer helped to foster many individual players and the growth of the game regionally. He was charming, loved to joke and called it the way he saw it.
He is predeceased by his wife Magdalena (Myers) Vermes formerly of Budapest, Hungary and Delran, NJ. Mike is survived by his children: Ervin Vermes of Delran, NJ; Susan Kress of Virginia Beach, VA; Michael Vermes Jr. of Cinnaminson, NJ; Peter Vermes of Overland Park, KS; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his family in Hungary, where he lived for the past 21 years; wife Vera, daughter Zita and stepson David, Mike's ashes will be brought back to Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ. He will rest in peace forever beside Magdalena. You are loved and missed!
There will be a private ceremony for immediate family members at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at http://www.lakeviewmemorialpark.com/

Although I did not know Mr. Vermes, I feel as though I do. Through his daughter Susan's stories I have gained a sense of who he was and I feel sure that "they don't make 'em like him anymore". My heart goes out to his family in sympathy.

Just an incredible man who is responsible for more than a few great memories. He touched many lives through countless hours of helping kids learn the game of soccer, but more important (and far less talked about)was his genuine concern for each of the kids he coached. My thoughts and prayers are with the Vermes family during this difficult time. May the many happy memories of your father ease the pain of your loss.
