AGE: 21 • Oaklyn
On December 7, 2011, beloved son of Richard Jr. & Carol L. (nee McConnell) Phillips; brother of Christy & Brett; grandson of Richard Sr. & Harriet Phillips and Jill McConnell & the late John McConnell Sr.; nephew of Jack & Kelly McConnell, Tom & Rachael McConnell, Colleen & Guido Babore, Maureen & Hans Houser and Doreen & Alan Wright; additionally survived by many loving cousins.
Rick was an altar server at St. Aloysius Church, Oaklyn and attended St. John's Elementary School, Collingswood where he developed his love of Track & Field.. A member of Paul VI High School Class of '08 and the Track Team, Rick was currently a senior at Rutgers University studying Business Administration & Accounting. Viewing Sunday 2-5 PM in BLAKE-DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 226 Collings Ave., Collingswood. Funeral Monday 9 AM from the FUNERAL HOME. Funeral MASS 11 AM in St. John's Church, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Collingswood.
The Family respectfully suggests donations in Rick's memory be offered to Paul VI High School Track Team, 901 Hopkins Road, Haddon Twp., NJ 08033.

Thank you for the wonderful gift that Ricky was to our family. He will forever be remembered by me as "our baby" because of how generously you shared him with his aunts. We all got to practice being mommies with him before we had his cousins. He grew into a thoughtful, bright, and handsome young man and we loved him very much. My memories are of a Beautiful, Polite, Well Manered Little Boy dancing all night at his Aunt Colleen's Wedding, sleeping in a hammock with his Grand Pa and mowing the back yard with his toy mower singing "Zip A Dee Do Dah". He grew up to be a Beautiful, Polite, Well Manered Young Man. Always a Smile, a kind Word and the ability to make the world a brighter place. These are the memories that I keep in my Heart and always will.

While I did not know Rick, I am a student at Rutgers University in Camden, which is how I heard of this tragic loss. I recently lost my younger brother (age 19) this past summer in a car accident. I know that there are probably no words I can say to give comfort, other than my thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family.

Carol: I am SO SORRY for your Loss. I read the article the other nite in the Courier & I knew the name was familiar to me. Rich, There are no words to fully describe how sad Maddie and I are for you and your family at this time. I sit sobbing as I write this. We loved Ricky - I as a co-worker, and Maddie as a classmate - both of us as PVI alum. We pray that the great patience and strength that God has blessed you with and you exhibit every day aids you now when you need it most. There are no sufficient words.
