Rev. Stanley M. Phillips, 77, of Jonestown, died on Monday, April 21, 2014, at Spang Crest Manor. He was the husband of Frances E. Daehling Phillips. Born in Trenton, NJ on August 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Stanley M. and Dorothy Wendel Phillips. In 1958 he graduated from the Wagner Lutheran College, Staten Island and graduated from the Philadelphia Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1962. In 1998, Rev. Phillips retired from the St. John's Lutheran Church, Williamstown, NJ after pastoring there since 1962. Following his retirement, he served as an interim pastor at several area Lutheran churches and Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown was the last church that he served. He was a member of the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown. He enjoyed travelling, camping, the Eagles, teasing his wife and family and he especially enjoyed working with stained glass.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son John A. husband of Melody Smith of Jonestown; daughters Carla L. wife of Jeffrey Kalcich of Northumberland and Elaine Y. Smith and her fiancé Joseph Dennard of Ephrata; grandchildren Casey Kalcich, James Kalcich, Lindsey Smith, Jared Smith and Tyler Smith; sister Barbara wife of Charles Miller of Manahawkin, NJ and nephews Charles and David Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 AM at the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the start of the service. Inurment will follow at the Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Jonestown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church at P.O.
