Carmen A. Ferrigno, Sr., age 75, longtime resident of Deptford, died Wednesday, May 21st at home after a long illness.
He built a life for his family and a home filled with laughter, love and kindness. An avid reader and golfer, Carmen's wonderful sense of humor helped make his home a sanctuary for friends and family. Raised in South Philadelphia, Carmen joined the Army in 1957 and was transferred to Anchorage, Alaska, where he met and married his best friend and wife of 54 years, Jayne S. Ferrigno nee Phillips. A welder, pipefitter and steamfitter by trade, he was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 322, which he considered his second family.
Beloved husband of the late Jayne Ferrigno (nee Phillips); Devoted father to Valori Ferrigno, Antoinette (Robert) Bohannon, Carmen (Sandra) Ferrigno. Carmen was known as Pop, Poppy and Butch to his beloved grandchildren Vincent, Valori, Kylie, Alayna, Alec and Jude. Also survived by sister, Sue Ann Damiano, and brother Anthony Ferrigno, as well as many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cats, Koko and CeeJay.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing 6:30-8:15 PM and Farewell Ceremony 8:30 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Private Interment at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Saturday May 31st. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Carmen A.
