William E. Wallace Obituary
William E. Wallace

AGE: 92 • Maple Shade

William E. Wallace died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, in New York City. He was 92 years old. Bill was born in Philadelphia and was a long-time resident of Maple Shade, New Jersey. Bill served as a cryptanalyst in the 2nd Signal Intelligence Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the President for many years of the Federation of Telephone Workers of Pennsylvania, which became Local 13000 of the Communications Workers of America, and was later an International Vice President in that union. After his retirement, he remained active in community affairs, serving as head of the Maple Shade Planning Board, a volunteer mediator for the Burlington County Superior Court and a lector at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Maple Shade. He was also active in local politics.

Bill loved to travel and photograph the world; he enjoyed the Walnut Street Theatre and the Philly Pops; he was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan, attending the Phillies spring training each year; and he looked forward to spending time with his family in Avalon, New Jersey, and East Hampton, New York.

Bill's beloved wife of 50 years, Rosemary, passed away in 2000. He was the beloved father of Nora Ann Wallace (Jack Nusbaum), Bill Wallace (Phyllis Wallace) and Rob Wallace (Susan Schlegel), and grandfather of Claire Wallace and Andrew Wallace. He was the brother of Georgina Meehan and the late Edward Wallace.

Friends and family are invited to attend his viewing on Sunday, August 17, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday, August 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Inglesby/Givnish of Maple Shade, 600 East Main Street. His Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Main Street and Fellowship Road, Maple Shade, New Jersey. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, Pennsylvania.
