Agnes Jean (nee: Larson) Baier, 88, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, died peacefully with her family at her side on Monday, June 10, 2013, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late Roland Victor Baier, and dear mother of the late Bonnie Jean (nee: Baier) Porterfield and Roland Dale Baier. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Beverly Ann (nee: Baier) Lynch, and son, Robert C. Baier Sr., her nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Agnes Jean was born, along with fraternal twin sister, Alva Mae, on August 17, 1924, as the fifth of six children to Adolph and Elizabeth (nee Johnson) Larson in Hibbing, Minnesota. She grew up in Nashwauk, and graduated from Nashwauk High School in 1942. Agnes perfected her swimming skills during summers while staying at her family's cabin on Pokegama Lake in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. She was a state champion in breast-stroke and synchronized swimming in 1942. Agnes received her bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1950. She taught elementary school in the Prince George's County, Maryland, school district for approximately 15 years before retiring to Grand Rapids in 1975. She and her husband moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 1995. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, where she sang in the choir. Aggie moved to Mount Laurel in November 2010. She loved swimming, singing, Pokegama Lake and her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to Aggie's Life Celebration on Saturday, June 15 at 10AM at Inglesby/Givnish's of Maple Shade, 600 East Main Street, followed by her service at 11AM.
