Geneva Christie Evansville, Ind. Geneva Christie, 86, passed away June 25, 2016. Geneva was born on July 1, 1929 to George Thacker and Suzanne Hockman. Geneva is survived by her daughters, Sandra Clark and Diana Stallings (Charlie); sister, Irma; brother, Raymond; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; daughter, Norma James and her parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until service time.

Doty, Jon Walter - Newburgh  
Jon Walter Doty Newburgh, IN Jon Walter Doty, 64, of Newburgh, IN passed away at home after a long illness on Friday June 24, 2016. Born March 8, 1952 to Stewart E. Doty and Mary C. (Anslinger) Doty, both deceased, Jon was one of eight children. Jon was employed by Newburgh Health Care in Newburgh for many years and was a kind, free spirited and generous man. A very artistic person, he performed as a musician and played guitar for many years in the Evansville area. Jon was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jon is survived by his partner Debbie Doty, sisters Cindy Bower (Earle) of Greensboro, NC , Cathy Wides (Phil Griffin) of Durham, NC, Jackie Doty-Fox (Dave Fox) Millie J. Doty of Evansville and brothers Tom Doty (Carla) of Newburgh, IN, Chris Doty (Sue) of Evansville, and Bill Doty (Brenda) of Haubstadt, IN along with nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Mark Browning of Newburgh for his special care and encouragement for Jon during his illness. Jon requested no memorial service and donated his body to the Indiana School of Medicine to assist medical research. Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana University School of Medicine. Jon would like to leave us with the words from one of his favorite poems/songs: Oh Well! I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin, But, don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to! Oh well! Now when I talked to God I knew he'd understand, He said stick by my side and I'll be the guiding hand, But, don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to! Oh well!

Clara Jean Garner Evansville, IN Clara Jean (Berry) Garner, 85,of Evansville, passed away at 9:42 am, Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. Jean was born November 9, 1930 in Big Sandy, TN to the late Albert and Clara (Lowry) Berry. She graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1948. Jean retired from Sears Central Service office in 1992. She was a member of Terrace Parke General Baptist Church since 1963. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Billy Garner; daughters, Katherine L. Veatch (Joe) of Newburgh and Debra Stroud (Mark) of Owensville, IN; 4 grandchildren, Andrea Flores (Eddie), Neil Stroud (Kim), Stacey DeHart (Cody) and Joy Veatch; 4 great-grandchildren, Nicole Stroud, Christian Flores, Amy Flores and Remi DeHart. She was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Garner Bean in 1978 and sisters, Deloris Berry and Sue Ann Turner. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Jeff Harford and Reverend Carlos Haskins officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum. Friends may visit from 9 am until 1 pm, service time, Thursday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel. Gerlach, Amy - Tell City  
Amy Gerlach Tell City, IN Amy Marie Gerlach, 90, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Tell City. She was born August 13, 1925 to the late Eli and Stella (Rogier) Claise. Also preceding her in death are her husband, Paul Gerlach; a son, Allen Gerlach; two grandchildren, Bryan Gerlach and Samuel Deom; sisters, Clara Peter and Mary Dauby; brothers, Earl, Andrew, James, John, Everett, Louis, Ernest, Ralph, Frank and Leonard Claise. Amy retired from General Electric where she worked for 42 years. She was a member of St. Paul Church. She enjoyed canning, going to yard sales and being with family. Surviving are her children, Vickie Deom (Paul) of Tell City, Paul Gerlach (Sharon) of Evanston, Dennis "Mark" Gerlach of Tell City and Mike Gerlach (Tina) of Troy; sister-in-law, Helen Rothgerber of Tell City; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Klem (Jason), Nick Gerlach (Lina Dooley), Emily Klein (Adam), Maria Shouse (Mike), Eli Gerlach (Tiffaney), Adam Deom, Mallory Ewing (Shawn), Michael Gerlach (Ashley Tempel) and Tapanga Gerlach; ten great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon CST on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at St. Paul Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8pm and Thursday 10-11:30am. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church. Gibson, Leah Rachel - Evansville  
Leah Rachel Gibson Evansville, Indiana Leah Rachel Gibson, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born July 15, 1928, in Owensboro, Kentucky. Leah worked at ABC Discount Store and Robert Hall. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, bingo, fishing, and horse racing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, the love of her life, Robert Gibson. Leah is survived by her son, Bobby Gibson; daughter, Beverly Shemwell; son, David (Nancy) Gibson; grandchildren, Donny Shemwell, Angie Sumner, Sara and Matt Gibson, Jamie Rose, and Deidre Gibson; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Goossens, LaVerne D. - Evansville  
LaVerne D. Goossens Mount Vernon, IN LaVerne D. Goossens, 83 of Evansville, passed away Tuesday June 21, 2016 at the Terrace at Solarbron. She was born September 10, 1932 in Harvey, IL the daughter of Marvin and Balbina (Klaczynski) Charleston. She married John C. "Jack" Goossens on November 10, 1956 in Harvey, IL. LaVerne had worked as the parish secretary and had taught Kindergarten at Assension Church in Harvey, she was the secretary at St. Matthew from 1978-83. She had been the recipient of the Simon Brute' Award. She had served as president of the Columbiettes in Scotia, NY; president of Church Women United in Mt. Vernon; and secretary treasurer of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church., She is survived by her son, Paul (Deanna) Goossens of Evansville; daughters, Theresa (Steven) Ubelhor of Evansville and Joan (Robert) Everhart of Pittsfield, MA; 6 grandchildren, David (Nicole) Ubelhor, Anna, Mark and Mary Ubelhor, Andrea (Kevin) Zawistowski and Patrick Everhart; and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Irvin (Roselyn Charleston, Robert (Margaret) Charleston, David (Arlene) Charleston, Kenneth (Alice) Charleston and Marvin (Helene) Charleston; sisters, Theresa Connelly and Dorothy Lassa. She was preceded in death by herhusband, Jack in 2012; brothers, James, Jerald and Donald and sister, Katherine Charleston. Funeral Mass will be Thursday June 30, 2016 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Wednesday concluded by the recital of the Rosary at 7 p.m. The family would like to thank everyone at the Point and Terrace of Solarbron for the care. David Meeker Mt. Vernon, IN David Matthew Meeker, 48, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at his home. He was born January 28, 1968 in Owensboro, KY to Roger T. Meeker and Carol (Weaver) Freeman. David was a 1986 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. David loved watching Colts football, Kentucky Wildcat basketball and NASCAR racing. He was preceded in death by his father in November, 2015. He is survived by his mother; brother, Roger K.
