Alvin L. Koberstein
Alvin L. Koberstein, 86, of Princeton passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Specialty Select Hospital in Evansville. He was born April 30, 1927 in Haubstadt, Indiana to Emery & Henrietta (Bultman) Koberstein. He lived in the Princeton since 1948, moving here from Hazleton.
He was the founder in 1955 of Koberstein Trucking. He was also the founder of A & T Concrete. He was a partner of H&W Nut and Bolt in Indianapolis, and the owner of Koberstein Vending. He was involved in the Old Town Development and active with the D.A. Keimer Christmas Fund. He served on the Board of Directors of both the Citizens Bank of Haubstadt and the Farmers National Bank of Princeton. He was a member of the Elks BPOE
634, the K of C, and the Moose, all of Princeton. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Princeton, IN
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy (Sherman) Koberstein; 2 sons, Richard, Sr. (Donna) and Kenny (Shirley) Koberstein; 2 daughters, Teresa (Stanley) Dove and Cathy (J.R.) Hary; 8 sisters, Thelma Seib, Sister Elizabeth Ann Koberstein, Virginia Wilzbacher, Lila Simon, Edith Baehl, JoAnn Heyer, Norma Purer and Alberta Elpers; 4 brothers, Emory, Linus, Marion, and Merle Koberstein; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Henrietta Koberstein, a brother Elmer, and great grandchild, Lillian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 2 P.M. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton with Fr. Ronald Zgunda and Fr. Bernie Etienne, celebrants. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may visit from 4 until 8 P.M. on Sunday at Colvin Funeral Home, Princeton. Rosary Service at 7 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
